Calm rarely comes from big changes. More often it arrives through small things done with attention, every day, until they become habit. Here are three we keep coming back to.
Make the tea properly
Boil the water, warm the cup, give the leaves their full three minutes. A peppermint after a heavy meal, a masala chai at four. It takes five minutes and changes the hour that follows.
Light something before you begin
A candle on the desk before work, or on the dining table at dusk. The flame does very little, and yet the room feels different. Bergamot Vetiver for the morning, Oud Wood for the end of the day.
Put it in a bowl
Pistachios eaten from a packet are a snack. Pistachios in a small bowl, shared with someone, are an occasion. The food is the same. Only the attention has changed.
Luxury, for us, is a sense of slowness and care in a fast and busy life.
